Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team and contribute to tenders from enquiry through submission. You will work with pre-construction, commercial, design and operational teams to shape competitive bids.

The role emphasizes reading technical drawings, cost analysis, supplier quotes and risk assessment, with a focus on delivering accurate tender documentation on schedule.

Qualifications

• Experience as Estimator within the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, costs and procurement.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Commercially astute with excellent attention to detail.
• Confident communicator with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tender deadlines.

About The Role:

Working Pattern: Monday - Friday 7:45 - 16:30 (9 Day Fortnight; every 2nd Friday off)

You will work closely with pre-construction, commercial, design, and operational teams, contributing to tenders from early enquiry stage through to final submission.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and tenders for construction projects
• Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations
• Attend tender review meetings and contribute to bid strategy
• Identify and assess commercial and contractual risks
• Maintain accurate records of estimate assumptions and exclusions
• Build and maintain strong relationships with supply chain partners
• Assist with handover of successful tenders to delivery teams

Essential Hiring Criteria:

• Previous experience as an Estimator within the construction industry
• Strong understanding of construction methods, costs, and procurement
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Commercially astute with excellent attention to detail
• Confident communicator with internal teams and external stakeholders
• Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tender deadlines

Desirable

• Experience working in highly regulated environments
• Background in main contracting or M&E estimating
• Relevant construction or commercial qualifications (HNC/HND/Degree)
