Job summary

Meriton Associates Ltd in Dorset is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator or Groundworks Estimator to take ownership of tenders from enquiry to submission, across civil engineering, infrastructure and groundworks.

The role offers work on highways, earthworks, drainage, foundations and residential enabling works, with a strong order book and opportunities for career progression within a growing business.

Qualifications

• Proven estimator experience in civil engineering, infrastructure or groundworks.
• Ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
• Commercially astute with strong attention to detail.
• Experience using estimating software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for civil engineering and groundworks projects.
• Review tender documents, specs, drawings and client requirements.
• Obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Assess project risks and opportunities during tender process.
• Produce detailed pricing schedules, cost plans and tender submissions.
• Collaborate with operations, commercial and pre-construction teams.
• Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings when required.
• Support value engineering initiatives and alternative construction methods.
• Assist handovers to delivery teams after tender awards.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.

Senior Estimator / Groundworks Estimator

Up to £100,000 Basic + Package

Meriton is partnering with a highly successful civil engineering contractor to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator. We are also keen to speak with specialist Groundworks Estimators looking to join a growing and well-established business.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a contractor with a strong order book, long-standing client relationships, and a reputation for delivering high-quality civil engineering, infrastructure and groundworks projects across the South.

The Opportunity

The business delivers a diverse portfolio of projects including highways, infrastructure, earthworks, drainage, section agreements, utilities, foundations and residential enabling works. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced estimator who can take ownership of tenders from initial enquiry through to submission.

Whether your background is broad civil engineering or specialist groundworks, this role offers the opportunity to influence major project wins and play a key role in the continued success of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for civil engineering and groundworks projects.
• Review tender documents, specifications, drawings and client requirements.

About You

• Proven experience as an Estimator within civil engineering, infrastructure or groundworks.
• Strong understanding of pricing and tendering processes.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Commercially astute with excellent attention to detail.
• Experience using estimating software and Microsoft Office packages.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Able to manage multiple tenders and work effectively under pressure.
