Job summary

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking an Estimator in Romford to calculate and prepare tender submissions, determining what a contract will cost to deliver while ensuring it returns the required profit.

The role involves preparing tenders from architects' drawings and site visits, estimating materials, plant, overheads and safety, with involvement in value engineering and pre-order meetings. Ex-b military encouraged.

Qualifications

• NVQ 3 in Contracting Operations/Estimating is desirable (Must be willing to work towards this qualification due to industry standards).
• Adaptability/ business awareness/ detail handling/ initiative/planning and organising/roofing industry/plant/safety and communication.
• Experience of flat roofing estimation is preferred.
• General computer awareness

Responsibilities

• Maintain or improve upon the Company's historic quote to order conversion ratio.
• Prepare tenders/offers in accordance with procedures and by required return date.
• Prepare tenders/offers from architects' drawings and/or site visits and detailed specifications provided by the client.
• Estimate the type and amount of materials necessary to deliver the contract against the specifications and offer value engineering options.
• Estimate the cost of plant, equipment and overheads.
• Estimate the cost of access, hoisting and protection with due regard to Health & Safety risks.
• Establish likely progress completion rates, including weather allowances.
• Attend pre-order meetings arranged by main contractors to assist in submission of tenders/offers.
• Calculate a final figure for the estimated cost, with adjustments for overheads and profit and present the tender price.
• Liaise with contracts manager/supervisor on receipt of order to communicate pricing information.
• Transfer quote and order information to Britain.
• Prepare and submit information for O & M Manuals.

Overview:

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking an Estimator on behalf of one of our clients.

To calculate and prepare tender submissions, working out what a contract will cost to deliver, whilst ensuring it returns the required profit.

Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities for the Estimator:

• Ensure you maintain or improve upon the Company's historic quote to order conversion ratio.
• Prepare tenders/offers in accordance with all of our procedures as set out on estimating information sheets and by required return date.
• To prepare tenders/offers from architects' drawings and/or site visits and detailed specifications provided by the client.
• To estimate the type and amount of materials necessary to deliver the contract against the agreed specifications and to offer any value engineering options available.
• To estimate the cost of plant, equipment and overheads.
• To estimate the cost of access, hoisting and protection with due regard to Health & Safety risks.
• To establish the likely progress completion rates, including allowances for bad weather and other unforeseen circumstances.
• To attend any pre-order meetings arranged by main contractors to assist in submission of tenders/offers.
• To calculate a final figure for the estimated cost, supplemented by adjustments for overheads and profit and presenting a tender price.
• To liaise with contracts manager/supervisor, by handover meeting, on receipt of order, to communicate pricing information of the tender.
