Job summary

RG Setsquare, Inverness-based construction and property development firm, is seeking an experienced Estimator to join its pre-construction team. This hybrid role offers flexibility for candidates across Scotland while contributing to competitive tendering and project budgeting.

You will review drawings and specs, prepare detailed cost estimates, gather supplier quotes, analyse costs, identify risks, and work with internal teams from enquiry to handover.

We are working with a respected business within the Highland construction sector that is looking to appoint an Estimator to support its continued growth.

Importantly, the business is open to hybrid working and welcomes applications from candidates based in different parts of Scotland. This creates an excellent opportunity for Estimators who have the right experience but may not be based in Inverness or the surrounding area.

The Role

You will play an important part in the pre-construction and commercial process, preparing accurate, competitive estimates and helping ensure projects are delivered within budget.

Responsibilities will include:

• Preparing detailed cost estimates, budgets and tender submissions.
• Reviewing construction drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Obtaining and analysing supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Calculating material, labour, plant and associated project costs.
• Identifying commercial risks, cost-saving opportunities and value-engineering solutions.
• Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors and internal project teams.
• Supporting projects from initial enquiry through to tender submission and handover.

About You

Previous experience as an Estimator within construction, housebuilding or property development.

Strong commercial awareness and excellent attention to detail.

The ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.

Confident communication, negotiation and analytical skills.

The ability to manage competing priorities and tender deadlines.
