Responsibilities

• Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for instrumentation, mechanical, electrical, and supply-only quotes.
• Collaborate with sales and engineering to develop project proposals meeting client needs and budget.
• Source pricing for materials and equipment, negotiate pricing with vendors, and evaluate total cost of ownership.
• Identify project risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Review project budgets, schedules, and resource requirements.
• Support project execution by reviewing change orders and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Maintain records of estimates and cost data for future reference.
• Monitor industry trends to stay updated on new products and best practices.

Connect Appointments are recruiting an Estimator/Bid Coordinator to join our Midlothian-based client.

We’re recruiting an experienced Estimator to work out of the Head Office in Midlothian.

What’s on offer?

• Full-time permanent opportunity
• £55,000 to £70,000 per annum

Working as an Estimator

you will be responsible for:

• Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for instrumentation, mechanical, electrical, and supply only quotes
• Collaborate with the sales and engineering teams to develop project proposals that meet the client’s needs and budget
• Source pricing for materials and equipment, negotiate pricing with vendors, and evaluate the total cost of ownership
• Identify potential project risks and propose solutions to mitigate them
• Review and analyse project budgets, schedules, and resource requirements
• Provide support during the project execution phase by assisting the project management team in reviewing change orders, identifying cost savings opportunities, and performing project close-out activities
• Maintain accurate records of estimates and cost data for future reference
• Continuously monitor industry trends and technological advancements to stay up to date. with new products and best practices related to instrumentation, mechanical, electrical, and supply only quotes

The successful Estimator will have the following skills, traits and experience:
