Job summary

The client manufacturer of modular electrical power distribution products in Bromsgrove is seeking an Electrical Estimator to join the commercial team. You will analyse engineering drawings, project specifications and single-line diagrams to produce accurate, competitive cost estimates and commercial proposals for pre-fabricated, modular electrical power distribution products.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of estimator experience, preferably in electrical manufacturing.
• Ability to read technical drawings effectively.
• Strong numeracy with understanding of margins, markups and contracts.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Experience in electrical or construction industry documents.

Responsibilities

• Interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, architectural layouts, and project specifications to determine system requirements.
• Quantify modular conductor runs, joint packs, feed units, suspension brackets, and distribution boxes.
• Factor in raw material costs, labour and freight.
• Formulate clear, accurate bids and technical proposals tailored to client requirements.
• Propose alternative modular configurations to reduce client costs or installation times while maintaining margin.
• Collaborate with design engineering for complex or bespoke configurations to ensure manufacturability.
• Provide smooth project handovers to management and production upon contract award.

Job description

The Estimator position in Bromsgrove, with Pertemps Redditch Industrial, offers a salary of £30,000 to £40,000 per annum on a full-time, permanent basis. You will join a manufacturer of modular electrical power distribution systems, operating within their commercial function.

Your primary duty involves examining engineering drawings, specifications, and single-line diagrams to formulate precise quotations for clients. Acting as a liaison between technical design and commercial delivery, you will collaborate with contractors, consultants, and internal departments.

This role suits a candidate with sound electrical knowledge who can interpret complex documentation and produce competitive proposals.

You will bridge the gap between technical design and commercial viability, working closely with external electrical contractors, consulting engineers, and our internal production and sales teams to secure work projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, architectural layouts, and project specifications to determine system requirements.
• Quantify the required lengths of modular conductor runs, joint packs, feed units, suspension brackets, and custom plug-in distribution boxes.
• Factor in raw material costs manufacturing, labour and freight.
• Formulate clear, accurate, and professional commercial bids and technical proposals tailored to client requirements.
• Propose alternative modular configurations that reduce client costs or installation times while maintaining system integrity and margin.
• Collaborate with the design engineering team for complex or bespoke configurations to ensure manufacturing feasibility.
• Provide smooth project handovers to the project management and production teams upon contract award.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as an estimator, ideally within an electrical manufacturing environment
• Able to read technical drawings effectively
• Strong mathematical skills with a knowledge of profit margins, markups, and contractual terms.
• A strong work ethic and the ability to work on your own initiative.
• Strong administrative skills and excellent IT skills
• An understanding or the electrical or construction industry

The role is permanent. It is on Days Monday to Friday with some degree of flexibility. The company offer a very modern, spacious, friendly and supportive environment.
