Job summary

MMP Consultancy is seeking an Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for a range of projects in East London. You will work closely with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams to ensure competitive, profitable tenders delivered on time.

Ideal candidates will have strong cost analysis skills, the ability to read drawings and specifications, and a track record with Excel and estimating software. This role offers a full-time, permanent position in a fast-paced, growing business.

Responsibilities

• Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates and pricing submissions.
• Carry out quantity take-offs and cost analysis.
• Source and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Assess project risks and identify value engineering opportunities.
• Prepare and submit competitive tenders within deadlines.
• Maintain up-to-date records of labour, material, and subcontractor costs.
• Liaise with operational and commercial teams during project handovers.
• Support contract negotiations and client discussions where required.
• Monitor market trends and pricing fluctuations to ensure competitive bids.

About You

• Previous experience as an Estimator within construction, engineering, manufacturing, fit-out, or a related industry.
• Strong commercial awareness and cost analysis skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

• HNC/HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Professional membership (RICS, CIOB, or equivalent).
• Knowledge of contract administration and commercial management principles.
