Job summary

Know How Resourcing is recruiting for an Estimator on a permanent basis for our manufacturing client in Doncaster. You will oversee preparation of detailed cost estimates, tender submissions, and stakeholder liaison.

You will develop estimating processes and ensure accuracy and competitiveness of all bids. The role requires proven estimating experience in construction/engineering, strong numerical skills, and proficiency with Conquest/Causeway/Excel.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in estimating within construction, engineering or infrastructure.
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to interpret drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects including labour, materials, and equipment.
• Ensure tenders are completed and submitted on time and to client specifications.
• Analyse project documentation to understand client requirements.
• Develop relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers for market insight.
• Attend client meetings, site visits and pre-tender interviews as required.
• Advise clients on cost-related queries and project feasibility.
• Implement estimating processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Monitor market trends to keep estimates competitive.
• Review completed projects to identify lessons learned.

Role

• Oversee the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for projects, including labour, materials, and equipment.
• Ensure all tenders are completed and submitted on time, meeting client specifications and deadlines.
• Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to understand client requirements.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather market intelligence and negotiate terms.
• Attend client meetings, site visits, and pre-tender interviews as required.
• Provide advice and support to clients on cost-related queries and project feasibility.
• Implement and maintain robust estimating processes and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Analyse market trends and competitors to ensure estimates remain competitive.
• Review completed projects to assess the accuracy of estimates and identify lessons learned for future improvement.
• Ensure all estimates comply with company policies, industry regulations, and health & safety requirements.

About You

• Proven experience in estimating within industry, e.g., construction, engineering, infrastructure
• Strong knowledge of estimating software and tools (e.g., Conquest, Causeway, Excel).
• Exceptional numerical and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
