Job summary

Compco Fire Systems is seeking an Estimator to join our Sales & Estimating team in the Midlands (Worcester or Dudley Port), with hybrid working and a company car or car allowance.

You will produce accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for fire protection projects, collaborating with Design, Contracts and Commercial teams to ensure competitive pricing and timely handover. This role offers real responsibility, career growth and the chance to work on high profile UK projects.

Qualifications

• Experience in an Estimator, Costing, Commercial or similar role.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Good Microsoft Excel and IT skills.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Review tender enquiries, specifications and project documentation.
• Interpret drawings and technical information.
• Prepare detailed estimates and cost breakdowns.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Build Bills of Materials and labour calculations.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Support client discussions and tender clarifications.
• Work with Design and Contracts teams to ensure smooth project transitions.
• Maintain estimating records and pricing databases.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for producing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for fire suppression projects ranging from small works through to complex national contracts.

Working closely with Design, Contracts and Commercial teams, you’ll ensure projects are accurately scoped, competitively priced and commercially viable.

Your work will help secure projects from initial enquiry through to successful handover, making you a key part of the project lifecycle.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Reviewing tender enquiries, specifications and project documentation.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

• Experience in an Estimator, Costing, Commercial or similar role.

• Strong numerical and analytical skills.

• Excellent attention to detail.

• Good Microsoft Excel and general IT skills.

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

• Experience within construction, building services, fire protection or mechanical installations.

• Knowledge of sprinkler or fire suppression systems.

• AutoCAD experience.

• Commercial awareness within project-based environments.
