Job summary

Morgan Jones Recruitment is seeking an Estates Technician - Electrical for a role in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. You will maintain critical electrical building services across a diverse estate and carry out planned and reactive tasks to ensure safe, compliant operation.

The role offers training and development, on-call duties, and overtime opportunities in a healthcare facilities setting, with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 3 Qualifications / AM 1 and 2 and experience in maintenance, fault finding and repair of building services systems.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation and safe systems of work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to participate in out-of-hours and on-call duties.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on building services systems.
• Diagnose faults and undertake repairs on electrical installations, lighting, power and control systems.
• Support maintenance of HVAC, steam, hot water, plumbing and specialist engineering systems.
• Complete commissioning, testing and inspection activities.
• Follow engineering drawings, specifications and maintenance procedures.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, HTMs and health & safety standards.
• Complete maintenance records, job sheets and certification documentation.
• Liaise with departments to arrange access and minimise disruption.
• Participate in emergency response activities when required.
• Support apprentices, trainees and maintenance assistants with technical guidance.
• Participate in the on-call rota following training.
• Work one weekend day per month, receiving a day in lieu the following week.

Estates Technician - Electrical Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk Salary: £14.32 Location: Suffolk Full Time | Temporary

The Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Estates Technician - Electrical to join their busy Estates team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional to work across a diverse estate, supporting the safe and efficient operation of essential engineering services and building infrastructure.

You will carry out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, fault finding and installation work across a wide range of electrical and mechanical building services equipment. Working as part of a multi-skilled team, you will help ensure critical systems remain fully operational while maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.

What We're Looking For

• Must have Level 3 Qualifications / AM 1 and 2 Experience in maintenance, fault finding and repair of building services systems.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation and safe systems of work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience within healthcare, facilities management, industrial or commercial environments would be advantageous.
• Flexibility to participate in out-of-hours and on-call duties when required.
