Job summary

Morgan Jones Recruitment Consultants is looking for an Estates Technician - Electrical in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. You will join a busy Estates team, performing maintenance across building services and ensuring safety and compliance.

The role involves diagnostic fault-finding, reactive repairs, and installation work on electrical and mechanical systems, with opportunities for on-call duties and overtime in a varied workload environment.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 3 Qualifications / AM 1 and 2.
• Experience in maintenance, fault finding and repair of building services systems.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation and safe systems of work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in healthcare, facilities management, industrial or commercial environments is advantageous.
• Flexibility to participate in out-of-hours and on-call duties.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on building services systems.
• Diagnose faults and undertake repairs on electrical installations, lighting, power and control systems.
• Support maintenance of HVAC, steam, hot water, plumbing and specialist engineering systems.
• Complete commissioning, testing and inspection activities.
• Follow engineering drawings, specifications and maintenance procedures.
• Ensure compliance with regulations, HTMs and health & safety standards.
• Complete maintenance records, job sheets and certification documentation.
• Liaise with departments to arrange access and minimise disruption.
• Participate in emergency response activities when required.
• Support apprentices, trainees and maintenance assistants with technical guidance.
• Participate in the on-call rota following training.
• Work one weekend day per month, receiving a day in lieu the following week.
