Join our Campus Stewarding team and play a key role in keeping our university campuses safe, secure, welcoming and running smoothly. Working in a busy, exciting and creative environment, you’ll be part of a team that supports students, staff, visitors and the wider University community every day.
No two days are the same. From carrying out security and building checks and responding to incidents, to supporting staff and students, fire safety, portering and estates activities, this is a hands-on role where you’ll be visible across campus and make a real difference. You’ll also use your practical skills to carry out minor repairs and preventative maintenance, helping to keep our facilities in excellent condition.
We’re looking for a practical, proactive and reliable person who enjoys being part of a team, takes pride in their work and is confident in spotting and resolving issues. If you enjoy a varied role, working with people and using your practical skills in a dynamic university environment, we’d love to hear from you.
If you’re someone who enjoys being hands-on, practical and part of a busy team , this could be the role for you. You will be someone who:
Enjoys fixing things and finding solutions – whether you’ve worked in maintenance, estates, facilities, security, property, building services or another practical role, you’ll be confident getting stuck in and tackling everyday problems.
Takes pride in your surroundings – you’ll notice when something isn’t quite right, from a maintenance issue or potential hazard to something that could be improved, and you’ll take action to put it right.
Is friendly, reliable and approachable – you’ll be a familiar and reassuring presence on campus, supporting students, staff, visitors and contractors and helping to create a welcoming environment.
Can stay calm and adaptable – every day can be different, so you’ll be comfortable managing your own workload, responding to changing priorities and dealing with unexpected situations.
Wants to make a difference – you’ll care about keeping people safe and our campuses running smoothly, while bringing a positive, professional attitude to everything you do.
No two days will be the same! As a Campus Steward, you’ll be at the heart of campus life, helping to keep our buildings safe, secure, welcoming and ready for students, staff and visitors. You’ll work across our sites, so there’s plenty of variety and opportunity to get out and about.
Keep things running smoothly – carry out building checks, patrols, opening and closing duties, and respond to day-to-day security and operational issues.
Be ready for anything – support fire safety, emergency responses, events and busy periods, helping everyone on campus feel safe and supported.
Get hands-on – use your practical skills to tackle minor repairs, maintenance, room set-ups and general estates tasks, from putting things right to helping improve our spaces.
