Job summary

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an Estates Manager (Operations) with specialist electrical and mechanical engineering knowledge to lead our Estates Department. You will manage the in-house maintenance team and external contractors, oversee day-to-day maintenance (PPM and reactive), and operate the CAFM system.

Strong communication with clinical staff is essential to support safe, high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

  • Experience in electrical and mechanical engineering within a facilities/estates environment.
  • Strong IT skills and experience with facilities management systems.
  • Excellent communication with clinical staff and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out dynamic risk assessments.
  • Organise and rectify reactive works.
  • Manage scheduled work on the K2 system.
  • Ensure safe working practices and compliance with HTMs.
  • Oversee safe maintenance, assembly, dismantling and repair of equipment.
  • Asset capture and review of estate plant.
  • Manage in-house workforce and external contractors.
  • Order parts as required.

In this rewarding and entrusted position, you will need good IT skills, be responsible for assigning maintenance work and undertaking day-to-day operation of our Computer-Aided Facility Management system. The role is focussed on managing the in-house maintenance team & external contractors day to day maintenance, both PPM and reactive. You will be working with a huge range of colleagues, including clinical staff, to support them in delivering excellent patient care, so strong communication skills are essential. Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is a large organisation with a huge portfolio of property, equipment, and systems. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take on a varied role, be responsible for ensuring safe systems of work are maintained in line with HTM's and recognised codes of practice by carrying out Authorised Person duties.
