Job summary

Greater Manchester Mental Health Foundation Trust is recruiting a Gardener for Prestwich. The role covers maintenance of all external grounds, pruning, mowing, planting, and upkeep of equipment and fencing to keep the site safe and tidy.

You will clear snow/ice in winter and work to high standards across the grounds portfolio. The post is full-time (37.5 hours/week) with a permanent contract and on-site duties at Prestwich.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 is required.
  • Experience in grounds maintenance.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures (COSHH).
  • Ability to follow operational policies and maintain high work standards.
  • Trained in using mobile work platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all external grounds and gardens across the site.
  • Prune shrubs, mow lawns, plant material.
  • Repair, maintain and inspect equipment, fences and grounds infrastructure.
  • Ensure safety and tidiness, including snow/ice clearance in winter.
  • Produce consistently high quality work and adapt to procedures.

Job overview

Your role as a Gardener will involve attending to all garden areas on the Prestwich maintaining the site by pruning shrubs, mowing lawns, as well as looking after the equipment and structures like fencing, keeping the grounds safe and tidy (including clearing any snow and ice in the winter), and planting a range of flowers, shrubs and trees.

Main duties of the job

To undertake the repair, maintenance and inspection of all external grounds and gardens associated with the Trust and its external contracts. This would include grounds and gardens planting materials and equipment in accordance with relevant legislative standards and operational procedures to ensure the external grounds of the site(s) provide a safe environment for patients, public and staff.

Be expected to produce work to a consistently high standard of work across the whole range of duties and applications required.

Shall be prepared to undertake additional training in order to fulfil the requirements of the post, satisfy new regulations/legislation or to further to develop the duties.
