Job summary

Horder Healthcare is seeking an Estates Engineer – Electrical to keep hospitals and healthcare sites safe, compliant and running smoothly for patients, visitors and colleagues. This hands‑on role blends electrical work with broader estates maintenance across building fabric, plant, plumbing, heating, ventilation and general services.

You will perform planned maintenance, reactive repairs and coordinate on‑site contractors while ensuring accurate records and a high standard of service.

Qualifications

  • Recognised electrical qualification, ideally including current IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition or equivalent.
  • Experience in estates, facilities maintenance or building services.
  • Practical, safety‑first approach with fault diagnosis and prioritisation.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across the estate.
  • Inspect, test, fault‑find and complete minor works within your competence.
  • Support safe and compliant building services including electrical systems, plant, plumbing, heating and ventilation.
  • Respond to helpdesk requests, prioritise work and keep colleagues informed.
  • Coordinate on‑site contractors, review documentation and monitor quality of work.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, asset and compliance records.
  • Support minor works, refurbishments, equipment replacement and service improvement projects.

Are you a skilled electrical engineer who enjoys variety, problem solving and knowing your work makes a real difference? Horder Healthcare is looking for an Estates Engineer – Electrical to help keep our hospitals and healthcare sites safe, compliant and running smoothly for the patients, visitors and colleagues who rely on them every day.

This is a hands‑on, varied role within our Estates team, combining electrical expertise with wider estates maintenance across building fabric, plant, plumbing, heating, ventilation and general building services. You will play a key part in maintaining high‑quality clinical and non‑clinical environments across our sites, supporting planned maintenance, reactive repairs, contractor coordination and day‑to‑day estates requests.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across our estate.
  • Using your electrical knowledge to inspect, test, fault‑find and complete minor works within your competence.
  • Supporting safe and compliant building services, including electrical systems, plant, plumbing, heating, ventilation and building fabric.
  • Responding to helpdesk requests, prioritising work and keeping colleagues informed.
  • Identifying hazards, defects and areas of non‑compliance, making safe or escalating where needed.
  • Coordinating contractors on site, reviewing documentation and monitoring quality of work.
  • Keeping accurate maintenance, asset and compliance records.
  • Supporting minor works, refurbishments, equipment replacement and service improvement projects.
About you:
  • You will hold a recognised electrical qualification, ideally including current IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition or equivalent.
  • You will have experience in estates, facilities maintenance or building services, with the flexibility to work across both electrical and general maintenance tasks.
  • You will be confident diagnosing faults, prioritising competing demands and taking a practical, safety‑first approach.
  • You will understand safe systems of work, risk assessments, method statements, permit‑to‑work arrangements and isolation procedures.
  • You will communicate clearly with colleagues, contractors and managers, and take pride in delivering a reliable, professional service.
  • Experience in healthcare, clinical, regulated or multi‑site environments would be beneficial but is not essential.

Contract: Permanent (37.5 hours per week)
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum
