Job summary

Wellspring Academy Trust seeks a Site Operative to support maintenance across multiple Barnsley academies. The role focuses on compliance, safety checks, and hands-on estates tasks to ensure clean, safe, and well‑maintained premises for both pupils and staff.

Based at the Digital Media Centre in Barnsley, the post involves coordination with the central team and site operatives to uphold high standards and efficient operations across Wellspring’s campuses.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and update the estates management system (TRM) across multiple sites, monitoring health and safety and estates management (e.g. fire, legionella, gas safety).
• Support and provide training to TRM users to ensure effective use of the system.
• Assist with the implementation of systems, policies and procedures to ensure smooth operations of the Academy sites.
• Contribute to the development of the Academy sites to continually improve buildings, sites and grounds for pupils and staff.
• Assist with inspection and condition of school grounds, buildings, building services and facilities.
• Undertake planned preventive maintenance (PPM) within skill set, including fault finding, repairs and minor improvements.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, current legislation and local codes of practice and policies.
