Job summary

LiveWest is seeking a Grounds Operative to maintain outdoor spaces across our estates in the Yeovil area. You will carry out grass cutting, hedge trimming, weeding and general maintenance to a professional standard, while following health and safety procedures.

This role is full time (40 hours) with a mobile site, requiring a full UK manual driving licence and PA1/PA6 certificates, LANTRA training, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather.

Qualifications

• Previous grounds maintenance or outdoor manual work experience.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Knowledge of basic horticultural practices (weeding, planting, pruning).
• Understanding of health and safety requirements including COSHH and PUWER.
• Experience using and maintaining horticultural equipment safely.
• Ability to plan and prioritise work independently.
• Good communication and customer-focused approach.
• Suitable literacy and numeracy skills.
• Full UK manual driving licence is essential.
• PA1/PA6 certificates and LANTRA training are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general grounds maintenance to a professional standard.
• Operate and maintain mowers, hedge cutters, brushcutters and blowers safely.
• Inspect communal areas and report defects or hazards.
• Keep tools and equipment in safe working order and report faults.
• Follow health and safety procedures and promote safe working culture.
• Engage positively with customers and respond to queries.
• Record completed work using handheld digital technology.
• Support the Estates team with seasonal and emergency tasks.
