Kingston College is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support and mentor adult learners studying on the Adult ESOL programmes across the School.

You’ll support learners to access the curriculum providing a mix of in class support, 1-1 support and assignment workshop support to ensure successful completion of their qualifications. This could include helping them develop skills in report writing, essay writing, time management, reading, writing and speaking. You’ll work with learners considered to be ‘at risk’ due to personal and/or family commitments that may impact upon their achievement and those with communication and social interaction difficulties to develop resilience, confidence and independence.

As our Teaching Assistant, we’d like you to have experience of working successfully with young people and/or adults in a supporting/mentoring role within an educational setting in regard to curriculum support and/or those and who may have social and emotional needs. With a willingness to undertake further staff development considered relevant to the post, you’ll be able to use initiative, organise and prioritise and take guidance and direction from support managers and academic staff.

You’ll have a good level of computer literacy with sufficient administrative skills able to keep high quality written records of learner progress and set appropriate smart targets based on the Individual Learning Plan and record Pro-Monitor comments to high standard. A strong communicator, you’ll be able to communicate effectively at all levels with the ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.

The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year.
