We are already a GOOD college, but we're continually striving to be better and do better - be part of our journey!

In this NEW exciting role of Teaching Assistant (ESOL) you will predominantly be based at our Waterfront and Springfield Campuses, where you will be working with students whose primary language is not English in their language-learning journey. This is an ideal stepping stone into teaching for those who aspire to progress or are already on that journey.

Your key responsibilities will be planning, preparing and delivering learning activities both within the classroom and outside of the academic learning environment with some support from tutors. You will be key in identifying individual SEND needs through initial assessments and completing inclusion plans for others to follow.

Ideally you will hold a Teaching Assistant qualification or be willing to work towards one and have previous experience of working in a post 16 environment with adult ESOL students. It is important that you're able to communicate effectively, encourage high aspirations, be able to manage change and work with other areas of the college to work towards a whole college SEND approach and demonstrate our College values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence in your role.

You will need to flexible around our 52 week curriculum delivery: day time 8.30-17.00 and some evenings 17.00-20.30.

Due to the nature of our work, it's essential you're committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

We believe learning is not just for our students: it's an important part of working here too. Staff development opportunities include a mentoring scheme, financial contributions for external qualifications and skills development for current and aspiring managers. You'll also have access to a range of staff benefits including an employee assistance programme, retail and leisure discounts and reduced Metro travel.

We want people who believe in the value of education, and who can contribute to our culture of supporting and challenging one another.

Term time only staff who start mid Academic year will have their initial salary payments calculated based on actual weeks worked and the number of pay dates between the beginning of employment and the end of the current academic year.
