Job description

Teaching Assistant - SEN - Mainstream Secondary - Bristol (BS14)

Are you experienced working with Key Stage 3 pupils with special educational needs? Do you thrive in a classroom setting and love making a difference in young people's lives? This role is based in a mainstream secondary with a high number of pupils with SEND needs, and will involve working closely with the SENDco, Speech and Language specialist and ELSA practitioner.

  • 100 to 125 per day DOE
  • ASAP Start
  • Monday to Friday, 8am - 4pm
  • Full time and part time applications considered
  • Long term role
  • Term time position
  • Pay rate includes holiday pay

Your day to day as a Teaching Assistant will look like:

  • Effectively contribute to teachers' planning and preparation of lessons
  • Working with individuals, small groups and whole classes where the assigned teacher is not present.
  • Behaviour management
  • Coordinate, plan and deliver interventions, ensuring that students with SEND learn effectively and reach high levels of attainment.
  • Monitoring pupils' participation and progress, and giving constructive support to pupils as they learn, as well as providing feedback to teachers.

The ideal Teaching Assistant will have:

  • Extensive experience of working with young people, particularly those with SEND needs.
  • Maths and English GCSE grade A -C / 9-4 or equivalent
  • Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours
