Job summary

NOCN Group, an international charity, seeks an ESOL & Functional Skills Lead to join the Product Development team. Reporting to the Group Head of Products, you will lead ESOL and Functional Skills qualification design, development and quality assurance to meet regulatory standards.

The role requires senior expertise in ESOL teaching, assessment, and qualification development, with experience in awarding organisations or regulated environments, and a commitment to CPD.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in ESOL teaching, assessment, or qualification development.
• Strong understanding of language assessment principles and frameworks (e.g., CEFR).
• Experience in awarding organisations or regulated environments.
• Experience with digital or online assessment delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and review of ESOL and Functional Skills qualifications.
• Lead subject-specialist development, review, and continuous improvement of ESOL qualifications, resources and support materials.
• Design, develop and review products to meet customer demand and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with the exams manager to update assessment strategies.

Overview Of The Role

We are seeking a motivated and professional ESOL & Functional Skills Lead to join our Product Development team. Reporting to the Group Head of Products, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality services aligned with NOCN's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and reviewing of ESOL and Functional Skills qualifications.
• Lead the subject-specialist development, review and continuous improvement of ESOL and Functional Skills qualifications, resources and support materials.
• Design, develop and review products following NOCN Group processes and procedures to meet customer demand and expectations, and the requirements of external quality assurance regulatory and relevant sector bodies.
• Work with the exams manager to update assessment strategies in line with qualification changes.
• Ensure alignment with regulatory frameworks (e.g., Ofqual requirements, CEFR standards where applicable).
• Act as the organisations subject matter expert for both ESOL and Functional Skills.

About You

• Educated to Level 4
• Commitment to continuing professional development
• Significant experience in ESOL teaching, assessment, or qualification development.
• Strong understanding of language assessment principles and frameworks (e.g., CEFR).
• Experience working within an awarding organisation or similar regulated environment.
• Experience with digital or online assessment delivery.
