Job description

Job Title: ESG & Sustainability Lead

Reporting to the Head of People Shared Services, you will take ownership of developing, implementing, and overseeing ARAG UK's ESG strategies to ensure a positive and meaningful impact on the environment and society. Your role will align with our strategic goals and meet the needs of our business partners.

In this newly created role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute ESG & sustainability initiatives, ensuring stakeholder understanding of these strategies. You will establish a robust system for collecting, analyzing, and reporting ESG data and support our bid function by providing this data for upcoming bids and tenders.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and maintain the UK ESG policy.
  2. Lead our ESG Framework in line with legislation, best practices, and corporate direction.
  3. Identify opportunities to improve ESG practices.
  4. Engage with external stakeholders through networking events to shape the UK ESG agenda.
  5. Enhance carbon monitoring through data gathering, analysis, and reporting, working towards our transition to net zero.
  6. Develop ESG training and awareness programs, including carbon literacy, in collaboration with our Learning & Development team.
  7. Support procurement to embed ESG considerations throughout the supply chain.
  8. Monitor and support suppliers' environmental performance and commitment.
  9. Promote discussions on Modern Slavery, Human Trafficking, and Supplier Diversity within the supply chain.
  10. Lead relevant forums and support business leaders in ESG and sustainability responsibilities to ensure compliance and understanding.
Role Details:

This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 2 days per week in our Bristol City Centre office. The position can be full-time or part-time with flexible hours, subject to discussion.

Candidate Profile:

You will have significant experience in ESG/Sustainability roles within a corporate environment, preferably in professional or financial services. You should possess a strong understanding of ISO 14001, TCFD, SDR, and EU CSRD frameworks, with proven experience in shaping organizational culture through collaboration.

As this is a new, standalone role, you will have the opportunity to lead and shape our UK ESG agenda. You must be confident, self-motivated, engaging, and capable of influencing senior stakeholders.

Additional Requirements:
  • Deep knowledge of ESG, climate risk, and Net Zero transition frameworks.
  • Facilitation skills for meetings, workshops, and training.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to develop policies that meet legal and organizational standards.
  • Proven stakeholder influence skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Project management experience and a track record of continuous improvement.
