Job summary

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust is seeking a proactive Manual Handling Advisor to join the Health and Safety team. You will influence practice across one of the UK's largest ambulance services, shaping manual handling and ergonomic risk management to improve staff wellbeing and patient safety.

You will work with operational teams and stakeholders to reduce musculoskeletal injuries, support compliance with legislation, and drive continuous improvement across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Specialist advice on manual handling and ergonomic risk management.
• Experience in developing and reviewing policies, procedures and safe systems of work.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments and analyse incident data.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist advice to managers and staff on manual handling and ergonomic risk management.
• Support development and review of manual handling policies, procedures and safe systems of work.
• Undertake manual handling and ergonomic risk assessments across clinical, operational and non-clinical environments.
• Investigate manual handling incidents, near misses and musculoskeletal injuries, identifying root causes and recommending controls.
• Analyse incident trends and performance data to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
• Support procurement and introduction of equipment/tech to reduce manual handling risks.
• Collaborate with Education and Training to develop effective manual handling training programmes.
• Promote a positive safety culture through coaching and continuous improvement initiatives.
