Job summary

The Royal Alexandra and Albert School is seeking dedicated Stable Hands/Grooms to join the busy Equestrian Centre team. You will care for horses, prepare for lessons, and help maintain a high standard of horsemanship on a 260-acre estate.

Applicants should have practical experience in horse care, be physically capable in all weather, and work well within a team alongside the Equestrian Director and students. This is a rewarding opportunity within a prestigious boarding school.

Qualifications

• Proven, practical experience in a yard, riding school, or equestrian environment.
• Able to handle horses safely and calmly.
• Strong work ethic and reliability in all weather conditions.
• Willingness to comply with safeguarding and health and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-standard routine horse care: mucking out, turning out/bringing in, feeding, rugging, grooming.
• Monitor equine health daily; report injuries or illness; assist with routine vet/farrier visits.
• Tack up and groom horses; prepare arenas; support riding sessions and co-curricular clubs.
• Maintain clean, safe stables, tack rooms, paddocks and arenas.
• Support community and interventions, including BHS Changing Lives through Horses sessions.
• Adhere to yard risk assessments and school safeguarding guidelines.
