Job summary

Sumitomo Electric is hiring a Project Accountant to join the Glasgow finance team, supporting EPC projects from initiation to completion. You will partner with project owners, monitor costs, and contribute to forecasting and revenue recognition in a multi-currency environment.

The role requires 3-5 years in project accounting, construction industry experience, and ACCA/ICAS/CIMA qualification progress. UK work rights are essential; a competitive salary and study support are offered.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years project accounting experience.
• Experience in construction industry essential (CIS/reverse charge beneficial).
• Solid understanding of IFRS 15 Revenue Recognition.
• Experience with inventory accounting and cost control.
• Ability to work effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Must have right to work in UK.

Responsibilities

• Financial management and reporting of EPC projects from initiation to completion.
• Monitor project costs, commitments, accruals, provisions and actual expenditure against budgets; identify overruns or unfavourable variances.
• Manage project P&L and partner with project owners as Finance Business Partner.
• Track direct labour, materials, subcontractor costs, overheads and other project expenses.
• Support cash-flow forecasting and project financial planning.
• Work with project teams to establish milestone completion % to recognise revenue.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
• Manage multi-currency reporting, FX exposure and intercompany recharges.
• Assist with audits and provide financial information when required.
• Support tendering stage costing/accounting perspectives.
• Provide general finance support to the team.
