Job summary

Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. is seeking a Project Accountant to support EPC projects in Glasgow.

The role partners with project teams to manage P&L, costs, and revenue recognition while ensuring compliance with IFRS and company policies. The ideal candidate is part-qualified with 3–5 years in project accounting, preferably from construction or related industries, with experience in multi-currency reporting and working in or with a Japanese company.

Qualifications

• Part qualified or newly qualified accountant (ACCA/ICAS/CIMA) with 3-5 years project accounting experience.
• Experience in construction industry essential (CIS and reverse charge).
• Sound understanding of IFRS 15 Revenue Recognition.
• Experience working in a Japanese company desirable.
• Experience with inventory accounting and cost control preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Must have right to work in UK.

Responsibilities

• Financial management and reporting of EPC projects from initiation to completion.
• Monitor project costs, commitments, accruals, provisions and actual expenditure against approved budgets. Identifying cost overruns or unfavourable variances.
• Manage project P&L and work as a Finance Business Partner with project owners.
• Track direct labour, materials, subcontractor costs, overhead, and other project-related expenses.
• Support cash-flow forecasting and project financial planning.
• Work with Project teams to establish milestone/project completion % to recognise revenue.
• Assist with month-end and year-end financial close activities.
• Managing multi-currency reporting, FX exposure, and intercompany recharges.
• Assist with audits and provide financial information when required.
• Provide support to project teams in costing/accounting perspective at tendering stage.
• Any ad hoc tasks to support the Head of Finance and Finance Manager.
