Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Plymouth is seeking an Environmental Test Engineer to join the Engineering team, supporting product development and qualification by delivering vibration, shock, climatic and environmental stress screening services. The role requires a degree and at least two years in a lab environment, plus familiarity with ISO17025 and related standards.

Qualifications

• Understanding of and experience of working to ISO17025 is essential.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in a Lab environment, ideally working in an Environmental Test facility & Development testing.
• Knowledge of BS EN 60668 & MIL STD 810 standards are highly desirable.
• Educated to a minimum of Degree level.
• High level of attention to detail – Writing reports and results accurately.
• Must be able to demonstrate strong communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Organising and prioritising jobs coming into the laboratory.
• Interpreting test results and then producing and maintaining a good standard of laboratory test reports.
• Programming of vibration controllers to carry out vibration testing (Random, Sine, mixed mode).
• Carrying out electro/mechanical shock testing using a dynamic shaker or traditional methods.
• Carrying out climatics testing – Thermal cycling, Thermal shock, Humidity, Combined temperature & Humidity.
• Supporting maintenance of UKAS accreditation to BS EN ISO 17025 and developing in-house procedures.
• Assessing equipment calibrations and measurement uncertainties to ensure capability in the accredited tests.
• Driving continuous improvement of capabilities, knowledge and processes within the laboratory.
