Job summary

Gold Group is seeking an Environmental Test Engineer for a Chatham-based on-site role within a busy test centre and EMC lab.

You will manage qualification work packages, write test procedures, monitor performance across environmental, EMC, lightning and other tests, and support customers with technical estimates.

Experience with MIL-STD, RTCA DO-160, DEF-STAN and hands-on EMC harness design are essential; SC Clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Experience with EMC standards and environmental testing including MIL-STD, RTCA DO-160, DEF-STAN.
• Experience with a range of test environments: EMC, lightning, vibration, temperature, humidity, altitude.
• Ability to write technical test procedures and reports.
• Experience managing qualification work packages.

Responsibilities

• Managing product qualification work packages, including cost risks and opportunities.
• Compiling technical test procedures aligned with standards and customer requirements.
• Monitoring and reporting product performance during environmental, EMC, lightning and nuclear hardening tests.
• Writing technical test reports and supporting customers with estimates.
• Design and manufacture of EMC Test Harnesses.
• Provide support to the engineering project management team while overseeing junior personnel.

Job description

Role: Environmental Test Engineer

Location: Chatham - On-site

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000

Environmental Test Engineer needed to join our client, an established electronics engineering firm based in the Chatham area in Kent.

Working in the Test Centre which includes a comprehensive EMC test lab you will have the opportunity to be part of a fully equipped 'one-stop' qualification department with a large and varied customer base, from military products to commercial airliner components.

Please note this role would require candidates to obtain SC Clearance.

What the role of the Environmental Test Engineer entails:

• Responsibility and management for product qualification work packages, including cost risks and opportunities
• Compiling technical test procedures in line with standards and customer requirements
• Monitoring and reporting product performance whilst undertaking environmental, EMC, lightning and nuclear hardening tests to military and civil standards
• Writing technical test reports, providing technical support to customers, and generating estimates to support new business.
• Design and manufacture of EMC Test Harnesses
• Providing support to the engineering project management team while overseeing junior personnel

What experience you need to be the successful Environmental Test Engineer:

• A wide range of experience in the application of EMC standards and environmental - particularly MIL-STD, RTCA DO-160, DEF-STAN
• Extensive knowledge and experience with a wide range test environments including; electromagnetic compatibility and lightning, vibration, shock, temperature, altitude, humidity, acceleration and explosive atmosphere
• EMC design knowledge
• Experience in the generation of technical test procedures and reports
• Previous responsibility for qualification work packages
