Job Description Summary

Lead and manage Project & Service team members efficiently to support the implementation of Environmental & Sustainability Requirements.

Implement and maintain Environmental & Sustainability Plans, ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory, contractual, and company requirements.

Liaise with Employers, Statutory Bodies, and Contractors.

Define and monitor actions to improve Environmental & Sustainability Performance during Construction & Commissioning, and to reduce the likelihood and severity of Environmental events and Site ESG breaches.

Responsibilities
Environmental
  • Manage and implement all environmental requirements across different projects.
  • Provide required environmental plans.
  • Lead and develop the environmental strategy for compliance with Projects & Service.
  • Deliver environmental programs, including surveys, pre-construction mitigation, mitigation monitoring, watching briefs, and exclusion periods.
  • Provide and deliver environmental communication and training plans.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring and auditing.
  • Assist in recruiting specialized personnel such as ecologists, hydrologists, archaeologists, ornithologists, noise specialists.
  • Manage ongoing programs and action plans for environmental protection, including permits for air emissions, hazardous waste, and wastewater management.
  • Ensure full implementation of GE standards and procedures at sites (EHS Directives, Work Instructions, Guidelines, EHS Roadmap, etc.).
  • Monitor fulfillment of environmental contractual requirements with subcontractors.
  • Ensure all site environmental events are recorded, reported, investigated, and analyzed timely.
  • Monitor the quality and quantity of environmental inspections conducted by site personnel.
  • Define and implement an Environmental Subcontractor audit program to monitor compliance with statutory, regulatory, contractual, and company requirements.
  • Monitor fulfillment of EHS contractual requirements with subcontractors.
Sustainability
  • Serve as the central point of contact for ESG & Sustainability topics, coordinating with relevant functions and responding to stakeholder requests.
  • Develop GSI Region Sustainability strategy & vision based on materiality assessments with key stakeholders, aligned with wider GE Vernova.
  • Support and drive the establishment of sustainability management plans for GSI projects following sustainability guidelines, processes, & frameworks.
  • Represent GSI in GE-wide initiatives, programs, and goals like Carbon Neutral Operations, Science-Based Targets, and ESG.
  • Lead data collection, internal verification, coordination.
  • Support decarbonization and sustainability efforts in GSI operations and value chain.
  • Secure internal GSI stakeholder engagement, alignment, and buy-in for sustainability initiatives.
  • Coordinate deployment of GSI-specific sustainability strategies, track, and report progress to stakeholders.
  • Assist commercial teams with customer responses regarding sustainability information.
  • Foster employee engagement and educate stakeholders on sustainability.
  • Collect and record sustainability data and social value initiatives.
Profile
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Required
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the field.
  • Full membership of IEMA + Chartered Environmentalist, or membership of recognized professional bodies like CIEEM, CIWEM, SocEnv.
  • Degree in Business Management, Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in the GRID or power generation industry.
  • Experience in sales, commercial functions, strategy, or management consulting.
  • Knowledge of Scottish and UK consenting and environmental legislation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of international EHS regulations and certifications such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional and cross-business teams.
  • High proficiency in English (oral & written).
  • Ability to make decisions with limited or conflicting data and manage multiple priorities.
