Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking an experienced Environmental Sustainability Lead to drive the Doncaster Triangle programme’s sustainability approach from bid through to delivery. You will provide strategic leadership, embed environmental requirements, and coordinate with bid, design, planning and delivery teams.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to lead environmental sustainability activity on complex infrastructure projects.
• Ability to influence design, programme, commercial and operational decisions at bid/pre-construction or delivery stage.
• Strong working knowledge of UK environmental legislation, environmental management and regulatory requirements.
• Experience identifying and managing environmental risks, opportunities, commitments and programme dependencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide environmental sustainability leadership across projects and programmes.
• Collaborate with bid, estimating, planning, design and project teams to embed environmental sustainability considerations from the earliest stages of project development.
• Lead or support environmental input into bids, tenders and pre-construction activities, ensuring environmental risks, constraints, opportunities and client requirements are identified and integrated into project strategies.
• Ensure environmental commitments, assumptions and obligations established during bid and pre-construction are transferred into project mobilisation and delivery.
• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits, licences, planning conditions, client requirements and company standards.
• Identify, manage and mitigate environmental risks, constraints and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Develop and implement environmental management plans, sustainability plans and related project documentation.
• Advise project teams, designers and senior leaders on environmental and sustainability matters.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, regulators, supply chain partners and other stakeholders.
• Lead or support environmental input into bids, tenders and pre-construction activities.
