Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking an Environmental Specialist to guide project teams on environmental management, ensuring compliance with legal and BB standards while driving continual improvement.

The role supports site-based design, construction controls, and mitigation delivery, with engagement of clients, stakeholders, and environmental authorities to meet contractual requirements and strategic goals.

Qualifications

• Experience in environment management within a construction or infrastructure context.
• Membership of a relevant professional body (IEMA/CIEEM/CIWEM) or equivalent experience.
• Solid understanding of environmental legislation, ecology mitigation, licensing and consent applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction, support and guidance on environmental management across project teams.
• Ensure compliance with legal and company standards and drive continual improvement.
• Support site-based design, construction controls and mitigations, and sustainability opportunities.
• Engage clients, stakeholders, subcontractors and environmental authorities.
• Produce and maintain environmental documentation and permitting requirements.
• Oversee high-level/value/complex projects through feasibility to post-construction with ES team backing.
• Identify and promote innovative environmental solutions.
• Regular site inspections and reporting on environmental compliance.
