Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking an Environmental Manager to guide project teams in hands-on environmental management, ensuring legal and company standards are met and driving continual improvement across sites.

You will engage with clients, stakeholders and authorities, support design and construction controls, monitor environmental performance and deliver training and sustainability reporting to support our strategic goals.

Qualifications

• Full driving licence with flexibility to travel and overnight stays.
• Professional Membership (or working towards) level of a relevant professional body (IEMA/CIEEM/CIWEM) or ability to demonstrate equivalent experience and competence.
• Good knowledge of environment management with the relevant experience.
• Experience of working in a construction environment is desirable.
• Practical experience and sound knowledge of environmental statutory requirements, including environmental legislation, ecology mitigation, environmental licencing and consent applications and regulation.
• Oversee, develop and direct Graduate ES roles across your portfolio

Responsibilities

• Support teams with creation of Best Practice/Case Studies.
• Support team with preparation and submission of documentation, consents and permits.
• Support field works, including but not limited to taking water samples, survey notes, vegetation management, site walkovers, record keeping and reporting, etc.
• Understand and support completion of BMS documentation.
• Support regular site, compound or depot inspections and associated reporting.
• Undertake environmental monitoring and testing.
• Support team with Sustainability Portal reporting and evidence requirements.
• Delivering operative environmental training
• Review Sustainability Portal reporting and evidence requirements to identify improvement areas.
