The Role

We have an opportunity for an Environmental & Sustainability Advisor to join our power division, supporting the delivery of environmental excellence and promoting innovation for sustainable growth. As an Environmental & Sustainability Advisor, you will advise across the design, construction, and reinstatement phases of our projects, ensuring regulatory compliance and environmental safeguarding. This role requires excellent communication skills, as you'll collaborate with colleagues, clients, and statutory regulators.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Undertaking environmental assessments and producing plans aligned with the environmental management system.
  2. Ensuring work complies with legal requirements and protects the environment.
  3. Supporting the provision of accurate environmental data.
  4. Monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on environmental performance.
  5. Conducting inspections and audits in accordance with ISO 14001, permits, and legislation, recording and acting on non-conformance and improvement recommendations.
  6. Providing incident management support to operational teams and promoting environmental best practices.
  7. Reporting, categorizing, and undertaking corrective actions for incidents and near misses.

Ideal candidate demonstrates:

  • A degree in an environmental discipline or relevant experience in an environmental role.
  • Strong understanding of environmental legislation related to civil engineering and utilities, with experience managing environmental risks.
  • Experience in the construction sector, preferably utilities.
  • Ability to write detailed environmental plans and reports and interpret data effectively.
  • Experience with environmental permits, regulators, and compliance on-site.
  • Proven ability to provide sound advice mitigating risks and ensuring legal compliance.
  • A genuine passion for the environment and a commitment to innovation and improvement.
  • A Full UK Driving Licence, due to site visits.
