Job description

Perfect role for a mid professional looking to grow their AgriTech career in Aberdeen.

Scotland's agricultural sector is under real pressure to cut emissions, cut waste and prove it's doing both. That's pushed AgriTech firms to hire people who can turn environmental policy into something a farm or food producer can actually act on. This SME, established but still growing, sits right in that gap. It develops technology for the agricultural supply chain and needs an Environmental Sustainability Advisor who understands both the science and the commercial reality.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:
  • Assess the environmental impact of client operations across the agricultural supply chain and recommend practical changes
  • Develop and monitor sustainability metrics, carbon reporting and compliance documentation
  • Work with product and engineering teams to build sustainability criteria into AgriTech tools and platforms
  • Keep track of UK and Scottish environmental legislation and flag what it means for the business
  • Run audits of farm and supply chain partners and write up findings that non-specialists can actually use
  • Support bids and funding applications that require environmental credentials or impact data
Here are the skills you’ll need:
  • A degree in environmental science, agriculture, sustainability or a related field
  • Three or more years’ experience in an environmental, sustainability or agricultural advisory role
  • Solid grasp of UK environmental regulation and carbon accounting methods
  • Comfortable presenting data to people who aren’t scientists. You’ll need to explain things clearly, not just correctly
  • Project management skills. You’ll be juggling several client accounts at once
  • Genuine interest in agricultural technology and how it’s changing farming practice
Key perks and benefits:
  • Salary of £34,000 to £44,500, depending on experience
  • Hybrid working, based from Aberdeen with flexibility built in
  • Private medical insurance and pension contribution
  • Bonus scheme and structured annual leave
  • Clear progression path within a growing company that still has defined roles, not chaos
Why pursue a career in AgriTech?

AgriTech is one of the few sectors where environmental work isn't a side project. It’s the whole point. Aberdeen has deep roots in energy and engineering, and that expertise is increasingly flowing into agricultural technology, making it a strong base for anyone building a long-term career here. Good people in this space move quickly into senior advisory and strategy roles, because the demand for credible sustainability expertise is only going one way.
