Job description

About The Role

Ready to use your environmental expertise to help shape one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects? At EDF, Success is Personal. As an Environmental Specialist, you'll help protect the environment while supporting the safe delivery of Hinkley Point C and building a career that matters.

The Opportunity

As an Environmental Specialist, you'll join our Conventional Environment Technical team, supporting environmental compliance across the design, construction, commissioning and operation of Hinkley Point C. You'll provide specialist advice on surface water quality, pollution control and effluent management while helping maintain the high environmental standards expected across the project. Through your work, you'll contribute to EDF's journey towards An Electric Britain.

You'll join us on a salary starting of £55,000 per annum, with the potential for an annual bonus. This is a hybrid role, with an expectation to attend our #AztecWest office 3 days per week. Once established in role, you'll have flexibility to balance office and home working.

Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, contractors and regulators, you'll influence environmental outcomes across a complex and highly regulated project. You'll have the opportunity to broaden your expertise, contribute to environmental design assurance activities and support key regulatory and permitting processes that help keep the project moving forward safely and responsibly.

Who You Are

We're looking for an Environmental Specialist who enjoys solving complex environmental challenges, building strong working relationships and helping projects achieve compliance. Are you experienced in…?

  • Working within the environmental sector with a focus on surface water quality, pollution control and effluent management
  • Applying the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016
  • Providing environmental advice within complex infrastructure, construction or regulated environments
  • Managing relationships with project teams, contractors and regulators
  • Holding a degree qualification, or equivalent, in an environmental or related technical discipline

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Supporting the Conventional Environment Lead across a range of environmental technical topics and project activities
  • Reviewing environmental aspects of designs and design changes to maintain high standards of environmental protection
  • Giving specialist advice on surface water quality, pollution control and effluent management
  • Supporting environmental permitting, consent and licence applications where required
  • Working across HPC, EDF Group and regulatory stakeholders to share information and drive environmental compliance
Pay, Benefits and Culture

Alongside a salary starting of £55,000 per annum, potential for an annual bonus, and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days, and more.
