Job Description:

We are working with a forward-thinking Local Authority in the East Midlands to find an experienced and proactive Environmental Services Manager to lead the delivery of a major joint venture. This role involves managing core frontline services such as waste collection, street cleansing, grounds maintenance, and related operations.

The position is based at the depot in Towcester with flexibility to work from other offices across Northampton, Daventry, and home (2-3 days per week).

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead performance management of a major Joint Venture contract delivering high-profile environmental services.
• Manage a direct report (Environmental Services Officer) and oversee service quality, statutory compliance, and operational risk.
• Ensure services meet KPIs through data analysis, inspections, and budget management.
• Represent the service in meetings with delivery partners and senior stakeholders.
• Support service reviews and transformation initiatives, providing data, insights, and leadership.
• Advise on environmental service delivery and future service models.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in contract and service management within environmental or waste services, preferably in a local authority setting.
• Strong commercial and customer insight with the ability to handle complex issues and improve services.
• Effective communication skills, experienced in working with stakeholders including Members and JV partners.
• Ability to work strategically and operationally with a visible, hands-on leadership style.
• Degree or equivalent experience in Waste Management, Environmental Services, or Civil Engineering.
• Driving license and willingness to travel across sites.
