Job summary

Oyster Partnership seeks an experienced Environmental Health Officer for an interim assignment across Environmental Protection and Public Health functions. The role covers a varied caseload with investigations, consultations and regulatory work under minimal supervision.

The contract is 4-5 months, 37 hours weekly, with hybrid working and 3 days in the office, plus up to 2 days home-based. Prior Local Authority Environmental Protection experience is essential.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Environmental Health Officer.
  • Experience handling Statutory Nuisance and complaint investigation casework.
  • Knowledge of Environmental Permitting and Public Health functions.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload independently.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake Planning and Licensing consultations.
  • Carry out Environmental Permitting inspections.
  • Investigate environmental complaints and provide appropriate resolutions.
  • Manage Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) investigations.
  • Investigate Statutory Nuisance complaints across both commercial and domestic settings.
  • Respond to and investigate Public Health complaints.
  • Undertake work relating to Private Water Supplies (desirable but not essential).
  • Maintain accurate records and provide professional advice in accordance with relevant legislation and council policies.

A Local Authority is seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer to provide support across a broad range of Environmental Protection and Public Health functions on an interim basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an officer who enjoys working across a varied caseload and is confident managing investigations, consultations and regulatory work with minimal supervision.
