Essential Employment is recruiting an Environmental Health Officer in Keynsham for a temporary, full-time role. You will investigate statutory nuisances, enforce environmental protection laws, conduct site visits, and advise residents and businesses on environmental health matters.

The position requires strong case management, report writing, liaison with partner agencies, and readiness to respond to out-of-hours incidents.

Qualifications

  • Investigating complaints relating to statutory nuisances, including noise, odour, dust, smoke, and light pollution.
  • Enforcing environmental protection legislation and taking regulatory action where necessary.
  • Conducting site visits, inspections, monitoring, and evidence gathering to assess pollution-related concerns.
  • Providing advice and guidance to residents, businesses, and stakeholders on environmental protection matters.
  • Managing cases involving air quality, contaminated land, industrial pollution, and environmental permitting.
  • Preparing reports, witness statements, and legal documentation for enforcement actions and court proceedings.
  • Liaising with partner agencies, internal departments, businesses, and community groups to resolve environmental issues.
  • Maintaining accurate records and case management systems in line with council procedures.
  • Responding to out-of-hours incidents and emergency pollution events when required.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of environmental health policies and initiatives.

Full time hours on a temporarybasis
