Job summary

Vivid Resourcing are assisting a North West Local Authority in recruiting an Interim Environmental Protection Officer to support the Environmental Protection team with a focus on noise nuisance, pollution matters and planning consultations.

This is a 6-month contract, full-time (37 hours per week) with a hybrid working model. Successful candidate will attend the office or site visits for at least three days per week and help clear a backlog of service requests while a long-term vacancy is filled.

Qualifications

• Experience working within Environmental Protection Act 1990.
• Experience investigating and resolving statutory nuisance cases.
• Managing and responding to noise complaints.
• Experience in pollution prevention, regulation and enforcement.
• Experience in local authority environmental health or similar.
• Experience with environmental permitting and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Support Environmental Protection team during backlog and long-term vacancy.

Job description

I am working with a North West Local Authority who are seeking an Interim Environmental Protection Officer to support their Environmental Protection team, with a particular focus on noise nuisance, pollution matters, and planning consultations. This is an initial 6-month contract to help manage a backlog of service requests and provide additional capacity while a long-term vacancy remains unfilled. There is potential for the assignment to be extended beyond the initial term.

The position is offered on a full-time basis (37 hours per week), although candidates seeking part-time arrangements may also be considered. The authority operates a hybrid working model, with the successful applicant expected to attend the office or undertake site visits for at least three days per week, depending on operational requirements.
