Buckinghamshire Council is seeking an Environmental Protection Officer to investigate and enforce regulatory compliance across the Council area. The role involves handling noise and nuisance cases, licensing inputs, and advising on major developments.

The position offers a mobile, flexible diary with opportunities to work from home and in offices as needed. A degree in Environmental Health or equivalent, and a driving licence are essential.

Qualificações

• Diploma, Degree or MSc in Environmental Health or equivalent qualification and work experience.
• Substantial relevant experience in environmental protection, including noise and statutory nuisance.
• Expert knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, best practices, systems, policies, and procedures.
• Proven ability to conduct formal interviews, gather evidence, and deal with sensitive issues.
• Ability to work collaboratively with team members and external agencies to deliver a customer-focused service.
• A full driving licence and the ability to work flexibly within core hours and outside office hours.

Responsabilidades

• Conduct investigations and take informal or formal action as appropriate.
• Manage a personal caseload of reactive environmental protection work to ensure compliance.
• Investigate requests related to noise and nuisance and take appropriate action with other agencies.
• Assess licensing and planning applications and attend hearings and meetings.
• Provide specialist input on large developments from an environmental protection perspective.
• Provide training and support to colleagues to maintain regulatory competencies.
