Our Environmental Planning team boasts an established workload and excellent reputation, demonstrated by membership of IEMA’s EIA Quality Mark scheme and active involvement in industry groups and conferences.

Responsibilities

As a Consultant, your responsibilities include supporting environmental planning, optioneering, and impact assessments for various projects, with guidance from senior team members. You should demonstrate expertise in more than one of the following areas:

    • Assist project managers across multiple projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
    • Coordinate with project teams, stakeholders, and subcontractors for data collection and collaboration.
    • Support implementation of project plans, including screening, scoping, impact assessment, and reporting.
  2. Environmental Impact Assessment:
    • Coordinate comprehensive assessments of environmental and socio-economic impacts.
    • Understand EIA regulations and stages; familiarity with the DCO process is advantageous.
    • Analyze data, assess risks, and suggest mitigation measures.
    • Stay updated with relevant regulations and industry best practices.
    • Collaborate with colleagues on parameters like air/water quality, biodiversity, and land use.
    • Utilize methodologies and tools to evaluate impacts and predict consequences.
  3. Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including specialists and project developers.
    • Maintain positive relationships to ensure transparency and collaboration.
  4. Report Writing and Communication:
    • Prepare detailed reports conveying assessment findings and mitigation strategies.

    • Ensure reports are accurate, well-structured, and clear.
    • Review deliverables for quality and compliance.
  5. Technical Specialisms:
    • Willingness to learn additional technical areas such as climate change, socio-economic assessments, or construction environmental management. Experience in these areas is a plus.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Management, Ecology, or related fields.
  • Experience supporting EIA processes across diverse projects and sectors.
  • Knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and UK planning processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong project management skills, ability to handle multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Proactive problem-solving, attention to detail, and analytical thinking.

We support professional development, training, and mentoring, with clear career pathways. Flexible working options, including reduced hours and flexible schedules, are available to promote work/life balance.
