Job summary

AWE is offering a Year in Industry Placement for an Environmental Scientist at Aldermaston, near Reading. The 12-month contract starts 2 Aug 2027, with a 9-day fortnight and onsite work.

You will perform regulatory monitoring, radiological and chemical analyses, and support environmental programmes. Ideal candidates are pursuing Environmental Science or related degrees, with a 2:2 by Aug 2026, and a strong interest in data, reporting and compliance.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Environmental Science or related field with 2:2 by Aug 2026.
• Interest in regulatory requirements and environmental monitoring.
• Keen to learn and develop sampling, data analysis and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in environmental programme development and regulatory work.
• Carry out regular sampling and analytical tasks for monitoring.
• Support reporting, planning and data management for compliance.
• Contribute to waste characterisation and regulatory reviews.
