Job summary

AWE offers a placement focused on safety and risk, based at Aldermaston. You will be embedded in Safety, Health, Environment and Quality to apply science-based thinking to real workplace challenges and learn from experts.

You must be studying a science or engineering degree with a 2:2 by August 2027 and graduation in 2029 or 2030, and you should be a UK national willing to obtain DV security clearance. This is an office-based role with a 9-day fortnight and opportunities to develop practical

Qualifications

You should be studying any science or engineering based degree.
Minimum 2:2 in your degree by August 2027 and graduation in 2029 or 2030.
UK national, hold a UK passport and have lived in the UK for the past 10 years.
Willing and able to obtain and maintain DV security clearance.

Responsibilities

Risk assessment: Undertake risk assessments and identify appropriate controls.
Safety compliance: Support compliance with health and safety legislation, standards and policies.
Operational assurance: Participate in risk-based inspections and use assessment tools.
Safety improvement: Help deliver safety initiatives and continuous improvements across projects.
Management systems: Understand AWE's Safety Management System across facilities.
