Job summary

AWE is offering a Year in Industry Sustainability Advisor placement in Aldermaston, near Reading. The role sits within Sustainability, Safety, Health, Environment and Quality, helping embed sustainability into planning, delivery and operations, and supporting governance and environmental reporting.

Starting 2 August 2027, the one-year placement features a 9‑day working fortnight, potential to secure a Graduate role, and a salary of £24,500 with benefits.

Qualifications

• On track to achieve a minimum 2:2 degree classification before starting the placement.
• Willing to obtain and maintain security clearance including DV eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Help embed sustainability into planning, delivery and operations.
• Support sustainability assessments, measurement, monitoring and reporting.
• Develop knowledge of social value and opportunities for communities and wider environment.
• Gain practical experience in environmental risk assessment and compliance with legislation.
• Collaborate with project teams and specialists to support sustainable outcomes.
