Job summary

Reed is seeking an experienced Environmental Compliance Manager to drive environmental improvements across the company. You will lead a small team, engage with suppliers, customers, NGOs and government bodies, and travel for certain duties.

Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with UK Timber Regulation, Modern Slavery Act, and other regulatory frameworks, maintaining due diligence, auditing suppliers, and coordinating with external service providers.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with management to manage environmental compliance and purchasing governance.
• Ensure compliance with the UK Timber Regulation, Construction Products Regulation, Modern Slavery Act, and EU Due Diligence Regulation (EUDR).
• Maintain a robust due diligence system for supplier auditing and external service coordination.
• Act as a point of contact for legal compliance queries, internal and external.
• Report to government bodies, certification schemes and trade associations.
• Monitor progress and report to the Board of Directors.
• Represent the company at external committees and industry improvements.
• Develop training materials, marketing and communication content with external providers.
• Work with the Quality Manager to integrate environmental compliance into procedures.

We are working on behalf of a client seeking an experienced Environmental Compliance Manager to join our team. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this pivotal role involves driving environmental improvements across the company, managing a small team, and engaging with various stakeholders including suppliers, customers, NGOs, and government bodies. The role also requires some foreign travel.

Day–to–day of the role:

• Collaborate with the management and purchasing team to manage corporate environmental compliance and purchasing governance.
• Ensure all processes comply with the UK Timber Regulation, Construction Products Regulation, Modern Slavery Act, and EUDR Compliance.
• Maintain a robust due diligence system to ensure compliance with the UK Timber Regulation, including assessing and auditing suppliers, and coordinating with external service providers.
• Serve as a key point of contact for any legal compliance queries, both internal and external.
• Report to government enforcement bodies, certification schemes, and trade associations.
• Monitor progress and report to the Board of Directors.
• Represent the company at external committees, supporting wider industry improvements.
• Develop internal training materials, marketing, and communication content and coordinate with relevant external service providers.
• Work with the Quality Manager to ensure environmental compliance is successfully incorporated into company procedures.
