Job summary

University of Leicester is seeking an Environmental Management Systems Manager to lead the development, implementation and continual improvement of the University's Environmental Management System. You will drive progression through EcoCampus toward ISO 14001 accreditation and embed sustainable practices across Estates, campuses and colleges.

You will analyse environmental data, advise on governance and training, and collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver measurable

Qualifications

• You will have a relevant degree or vocational qualification with substantial sustainability delivery or project management experience.
• You will have practical experience of Environmental Management Systems and membership or progression toward a professional body.
• You will be able to interpret complex environmental data and translate findings into practical recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, implementation and continual improvement of the University's Environmental Management System.
• Progress the EMS through the EcoCampus framework towards ISO 14001 accreditation.
• Conduct environmental reviews and gap analyses; develop audit and improvement programmes.
• Monitor legal compliance and provide expert advice and training to colleagues.
• Analyze environmental performance data across waste, travel, procurement, water, energy and carbon emissions.
• Collaborate with Professional Services and academic departments; engage with external auditors and accreditation bodies.
• Support Environmental Action Coordinators and promote behavioural change initiatives.
