Job summary

Tradebe is seeking a Laboratory Chemist for the Gwent Waste Management Centre in Newport. You will analyze water-based waste and process samples, ensuring timely, accurate results for internal and external customers. The role requires attention to detail, problem-solving, and teamwork in a safe lab environment.

You will gain experience with ICP-OES, IC, UHPLC-HRAMS and related techniques while supporting continuous improvement within the lab. A competitive salary and benefits package are offered.

Qualifications

• BSc in Chemistry or related science.
• Strong safety awareness and handling hazardous materials.
• Organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Work safely following SHEQ standards.
• Sample handling from receipt to disposal and reporting.
• Maintain records both physically and digitally.
• Investigate non-conforming materials and analytical issues.
• Maintain and calibrate lab equipment per SOPs.
• Plan workload and support colleagues.
• Contribute to lab projects and improvement initiatives.
• Handle confidential business and technical information.
