Job summary

Carrington Blake Recruitment is seeking an Environmental Health Inspector to protect public health in the Wokingham area. You will inspect food businesses, housing and workplaces, investigate complaints, gather evidence and issue enforcement where required.

The role requires strong investigative skills, knowledge of EH legislation, and the ability to manage multiple cases while communicating clearly with businesses and residents.

Qualifications

• Full UK Category B driving licence is essential.
• Good knowledge of Environmental Health legislation and enforcement procedures.
• Strong investigation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including reports and enforcement docs.
• Ability to make sound decisions and use professional judgement.
• Experience handling challenging situations and vulnerable individuals.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and with external agencies.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out inspections of food businesses, commercial premises and residential properties.
• Investigating environmental health complaints, incidents and potential breaches of legislation.
• Conducting site visits and gathering evidence.
• Advising businesses, residents and organisations on environmental health regulations.
• Preparing reports, investigation records and enforcement notices.
• Working with council departments, external agencies and other partners.
• Managing cases, prioritising workloads and ensuring investigations are completed within deadlines.
• Supporting public health, environmental protection and housing standards.
