Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) develops Environmental Cases and provides Environmental Management advice to the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD), ensuring compliance with environmental legislation related to defense systems, guided by the UK MoD Project Oriented Environmental Management System (POEMS).

The Role

We are seeking an Environmental Engineer to join our growing Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) Environmental Engineering team. BDUK Environmental Engineers lead various engineering activities to ensure compliance with regulations applicable to Boeing products, systems, and services, and advise managers on environmental risks.

They collaborate with environmental specialists, work with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to influence process design, and represent Boeing at environmental forums. This role offers valuable experience across multiple environmental disciplines, ideal for early career or established engineers looking to develop technical skills further.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with integrating Environmental Management considerations into the design and development of Boeing products, systems, and services.
  • Help develop and implement Environmental Management strategies for projects, resulting in comprehensive Environmental Cases.
  • Support the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team in maintaining the BDUK Environmental Management System and ensuring compliance with UK legislation.
  • Assist the Boeing Sustainability Team in promoting sustainability within UK programs and gaining recognition.
  • Work with Boeing, customer, and supplier teams to gather evidence supporting Environmental Management strategies and represent Boeing at industry events.
  • Advise senior engineers and managers on legislative environmental requirements.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong analytical skills, highly organized, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey technical information effectively.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset.
  • Experience in Environmental Management.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to pass a BPSS security check.
  • Familiarity with Environmental Management Systems like Defence Standard 00-051, ISO14001, and POEMS is desirable.
