Job summary

ERM is seeking an experienced environmental professional to work on a flexible engagement, designed for fixed-term contracts or contingent/daily rate assignments across Scotland with travel between client sites.

The role involves a mix of site and project office work, leading on consents and licensing, monitoring compliance, and managing multiple consultancy contracts to support major infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Proven project management experience, including consultant oversight and delivery of major projects.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to influence/negotiate effectively.
• Hands-on construction site experience and contractor oversight.
• Solid knowledge of ecology and hydrology.
• Understanding of peat management and environmental constraints.
• Membership of a professional environmental body is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead on consents and licensing: manage condition discharge and environmental licensing to ensure timely project delivery.
• Monitor compliance: coordinate contractor and client environmental obligations and ensure statutory compliance.
• Manage consultancy contracts: scope, tender, award, and oversee multiple consultancy contracts for EnvCoW support services.
• Stakeholder engagement: build relationships with consenting bodies and authorities to support decision-making.
• Contractor collaboration: develop positive working relationships to raise environmental performance.
• Site inspections and audits: conduct reviews to ensure compliance with environmental and planning consents.
